Your guide to simple, beginner-friendly outdoor adventures

Hi, I’m Kim, creator of The Outdoor Girl Blog. I’ve spent most of my life exploring coastal BC through beach walks, easy hikes, cozy camping trips, days on the water and simple outdoor adventures.

My goal is to help you enjoy nature without feeling overwhelmed, unprepared or unsure where to begin.

  • Practical, beginner-friendly tips: Hiking basics, camping essentials, simple packing lists, staying safe outdoors, and how to build confidence one step at a time.
  • Real experiences from life on the coast: What it’s actually like exploring the trails, beaches, ferries, weather, and wild spaces of BC.
  • Inspiration for everyday adventures: Short walks, low-pressure trips, easy getaways, and simple ways to connect with nature even when life feels busy.
  • Travel and destination ideas: Vancouver Island, the Southern Gulf Islands, and other accessible places around BC.
  • Guidance for women exploring solo: Safety, confidence-building, planning, and mindset, delivered with honesty and encouragement.

My background

I’ve been exploring the outdoors for decades and learned what helps beginners feel safe and confident. I’ve spent many years volunteering in youth programs in BC, helping girls build basic outdoor skills. Those experiences taught me to break things down clearly, focus on what matters, and make outdoor adventures approachable for every skill level.
